The Samoan Fire Knife Dance is a cultural tradition used in ceremonies. Origianlly composed of a machete wrapped in towels, this knife was used during tribal performances of fire knife dancing while twirling the knife and doing other acrobatic stunts. Today, many commerical performers perform the dance with short staffs or unbladed knives, which is not an authentic fire knife dance and is unaccepatable in the Samoas.
