Good Sportsmanship : Making a Bold Move to Be More Like Christ
Every day, we try to live through him. Be more like him. Love everyone. Treat everyone with respect. Be fair in everything we do. This is difficult, we are human beings. I was watching the Olympics (which were amazing) and I was floored when Dara Torres made a bold move, and showed a random act of kindness when her competitor’s swimsuit ripped and she brought it to the attention of the referee.
I think that especially in this instance when you are competing for something that means so much to you, your family, and your country, that it’s difficult to keep sight of what goal you are trying to reach. It’s always important to remember that with any sport, God gave you the ability to have these great talents and it’s important that you are not selfish with your abilities.
Dara Torres showed great sportsmanship and was courteous to her other competitors. I think that we can all learn a lesson from her.
1 Corinthians 9:25
“Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.”
